AAYSA Track & Field

AAYSA Track introduces kids to Track & Field in a positive, encouraging environment. Athletes learn the fundamentals of running, jumping, and throwing while building confidence, teamwork, and a love for being active. The focus is on learning, improving, and having fun.

AAYSA competes through TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic Federation) in Region 4.

Practice Schedule:

Location: McNabb MS, 815 W Sherman Dr, Aubrey

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

6:30–7:30 PM – 6U, 8U, 10U
7:15–8:30 PM – 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U

Athletes should wear comfortable athletic clothing and running shoes and bring a water bottle. Track spikes are not permitted during regular practices unless approved by a coach.

Meets
Regional Qualifying Meets are held no later than two weeks before the state meet (TAAF Region 4).

Meet Policy
Registration includes four regular season meets. One missed meet may be substituted with the Regional Meet (if eligible) with advance notice (limit one substitution per athlete).

If an athlete qualifies for State, AAYSA will cover the entry fee. The State Meet is not part of the regular season and cannot be used as a substitution.

  • What should athletes wear to practice?: Athletes should wear comfortable athletic clothing suitable for running and movement, such as shorts, leggings, T-shirts, or athletic tops. Proper running or athletic shoes are recommended. Please bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Track spikes are not permitted during regular practices unless approved by a coach. Coaches will provide guidance if and when spikes are appropriate.
  • Where are practices held?: Practices will be held at an Aubrey ISD track.
  • Where are the meets located?: Meets will be located in the DFW area, except for State. State is held at Texas A&M's track in College Station.
  • How many events per meet?: Each athlete can participate in 2 events. TAAF also specifies which events specific age groups can compete in. You will find the specific rules on the TAAF website.
