AAYSA Inclusion Support Volunteer Program

Building Belonging Through Compassion and Support

AAYSA is committed to creating a welcoming environment where every child has the opportunity to participate, grow, and enjoy youth sports. We understand that some athletes may benefit from additional support during practices, games, or team activities. To help meet those needs, AAYSA is creating an Inclusion Support Volunteer Program.

This program allows a head coach or a parent to request an additional approved volunteer to assist with general team support when an athlete may need extra attention, redirection, encouragement, or help with transitions and participation. Support may be helpful for athletes with autism, ADHD, sensory needs, behavioral challenges, developmental differences, or other needs identified by the parent or guardian.

The purpose of this program is to:

  • promote inclusion for all athletes
  • support coaches in managing team needs
  • help athletes participate safely and successfully
  • build a trained pool of volunteers available when extra support is needed

Approval of a support volunteer will depend on volunteer availability, completion of any required background checks, and the specific needs of the team and player.
