Aubrey Area Youth Association Cheerleading offers a fun and rewarding experience that teaches your athlete the skills of cheerleading while building a relationship with their peers and their community.
Registration: Registration for the Fall 2024 season is open from March 3, 2024 – May 6, 2023. Due to the short timeframe given to place the uniform order, late registrations are not allowed with no exceptions. We encourage you to register as early as possible as there is a 25 cheerleader limit per squad and there will only be one squad per football team. Registration is open for children entering grades 1st - 6th in the Fall of 2024.
Uniforms: Historically uniforms have cost approximately $250. We anticipate the cost for the Fall 2024 season to run between $250 - $280 (final cost depends on number of uniforms ordered). The full uniform package includes: shell, skirt, briefs, half top, socks, bow, poms and bag.
There is a fundraiser held the week after registration closes to give each cheerleader the opportunity to raise funds to help cover the cost of the uniform.
Uniforms are used for 3 years before they are redesigned. The Fall 2024 season will be the same uniform design as the Fall 2023 season.
Currently, uniform production takes up to 8 weeks and while we try our best to ensure the uniforms arrive before the start of the season, we have no control over the vendor’s production time.
Payment for the uniform is due on May 31, 2024.
Fundraiser: The popcorn fundraiser will be completely virtual, will run for 7 days, and we receive 50% of the raised funds (75% of cash donations). This fundraiser is NOT mandatory. The funds raised for your cheerleader will be used toward uniform costs.
Camp: Cheer camp is HIGHLY recommended as it is where the squads will learn their halftime cheer and dance. Camp will be held at the end of July; I will send out the location and dates/time as soon as they are available. The fee for camp is $50.
Mandatory Volunteers: Please note that all cheerleaders' families are required to help with concessions and the gate for home games. Number of required volunteer spots will be determined by the number of home games hosted and the number of cheerleaders registered.
Families that do not complete their required volunteer spots will be assessed a fine of $100 that must be paid prior to future participation in AAYSA cheer.
Practice: Practice is held for one hour twice a week during the month of August and once a week beginning in September until the season ends.
Practice times and locations are determined by your squad’s coach and will be communicated closer to the season start.
Games: Games begin in the months of September and are held on Saturdays. There are typically 8 (7 for 1st/2nd grade) games in a regular season with most teams participating in additional playoff games. We do not receive the final schedule for the football season until the end of August or the first week in September. Exact dates, times and location of games will be provided as soon as possible.
Cheerleaders will perform sideline cheers during all 4 quarters and will perform a cheer and dance routine during halftime at every game.
Please note, all games are held outside rain or shine. Games typically run between 1-1.5 hours but may go over depending on how often the clock has to stop or other unexpected game delays.
Home games are played at Aubrey High School and away games are played at various surrounding locations such as Pilot Point, Pottsboro, Denison, Sanger, Krum and Whitesboro and Ponder. Parents are responsible for getting your cheerleader to each game on time.
Attendance Policy: While absences are often unavoidable, each absence causes changes to cheer stunts and dance formations that other squad members and our volunteer coaches work hard to put together and are excited to perform during halftime. To be fair to all squad members excessive absences from practice or games will result in your child not preforming during the halftime show at the coach’s discretion.
Other Events: AAYSA Cheerleaders get to participate in many events within the community. Typically, we participate in a cheer clinic with the Aubrey High School Cheerleaders, Meet the Chaps Night at AHS, Aubrey Peanut Festival Parade and AHS Homecoming. Attendance at these events is optional but they are always a ton of fun! All events will be determined closer to the start of the season and will be communicated to all cheer families through your coach.
